KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 16 mm, 8.51 g, 4 h), Babylon, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with coiled serpent. Rev. BAΣIΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞAN[ΔΡOΥ] Nike standing front, head to left, with her wings spread, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to lower left, monogram of ΗΡ; to lower right, monogram of ΜΙ. Price 3775. Minor die rust on the obverse and with traces of mounting, otherwise, good very fine.
